Photography tips

How this image was taken

For this low-light shot in the old town, I chose an open aperture of f/1.8 to make the best use of the available light. The shutter speed of 1/35 s allowed me to shoot handheld, while the ISO 1000 setting provided the necessary light sensitivity.

  • Choose a low-angle perspective directly above the ground to include the texture of the cobblestones as a leading element.
  • Use as wide an aperture as possible to photograph during the blue hour without additional equipment.
  • Use a short focal length to emphasize the converging lines of the narrow alley and create a sense of depth.
