Photography tips
How this image was taken
For this night shot, a shutter speed of 1 second was chosen to capture enough light for the illuminated hotel at an aperture of f/5.6 and ISO 1000. The focal length of 45 mm provides a natural distance to the subject.
- Use objects like pine branches in the foreground to create depth and frame the subject intentionally.
- Select a wide aperture so that nearby elements appear out of focus, guiding the eye toward the building.
- Use a longer shutter speed to allow sufficient ambient light onto the sensor when shooting at night without flash.
