Photography tips
How this image was taken
This night shot uses a shutter speed of 3.2 seconds to capture the ambient light, while the aperture of f/11 ensures a deep depth of field. An ISO of 500 provides a balance between image noise and light sensitivity at a focal length of 18 mm.
- Use a longer shutter speed to capture the string lights and the atmospheric evening mood in the city.
- Select a closed aperture like f/11 to ensure the details of the Christmas tree are sharp throughout the frame.
- Use a wide angle of 18 mm to capture the entire Christmas tree along with the surrounding square.
