Lilu Light Festival Lucerne 2026
The Lilu Light Festival Lucerne 2026 once again transformed the city into a nighttime stage of light, projections and atmosphere. This photographic series shows familiar places in Lucerne from a different perspective.
When Lucerne Changes After Dark
There are evenings in January when the cold in Lucerne suddenly fades into the background. The sun has long disappeared, your breath becomes visible in the air and the familiar city begins to change its character. These are the moments when the Lilu Light Festival Lucerne reveals its unique atmosphere.
For me, the festival is more than a collection of light installations. It demonstrates how strongly light can transform architecture, spaces and perception. Buildings, squares and facades that often go unnoticed during everyday life suddenly become the centre of attention.
How Light Transforms the City
What fascinated me most this year was the different ways the installations interacted with existing locations. Some projections complemented the architecture in a quiet and subtle way, while others transformed entire facades into moving visual surfaces.
In Lucerne, this creates a very specific atmosphere. The old town, the Reuss river and the historic buildings feel both familiar and transformed at the same time. The festival creates brief moments in which the city can be experienced in a different way.
Photographic Perspectives at Lilu 2026
This series intentionally focuses not only on the installations themselves, but also on their effect within the urban environment. Light, people, movement and reflections combine into scenes that exist only for a short time.
