Photography tips

How this image was taken

This shot during the blue hour uses a shutter speed of 10 seconds to capture the city lights and the moving boat harmoniously. An aperture of f/11 ensures a high depth of field, while the ISO of 400 provides a balanced level of image noise in challenging light.

  • Choose a stopped-down aperture like f/11 for night shots to render city light sources with precision and sharpness.
  • Use a longer shutter speed so that moving objects like the illuminated boat create a clear light trail on the water.
  • Use a wide-angle focal length of 22 mm to comprehensively frame both the silhouette of the mountain and the urban surroundings.
